The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results for the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026. With these results now out, the overall pass percentage for the academic year has climbed to 96.78%.
This figure combines the results from both the main board examination and the second board examination. In the first board exam, the overall pass percentage was recorded at 93.70%.
Over 3 Lakh Students Improve Their Scores in CBSE Class 10 Second Exam
According to The Tribune, more than 5 lakh students appeared for the second board examination to try and improve their scores from the main exam. Of these, 3,08,095 students — which is 59.95% of those who appeared — successfully registered an improvement in their performance.
The second exam also saw 6,63,777 candidates in total. Among them, 52.40% of compartment students managed to pass, as reported by Ground News.
Two-Board Exam System Under NEP 2020
This two-board examination system was introduced for the first time under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The policy allows Class 10 students two opportunities to appear for their board exams. While appearing for the main board examination is mandatory, the second examination is optional and gives students a chance to improve their scores.
