Three people were injured and 18 houses were damaged after overnight rain in the Boh Valley of Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, officials said on Wednesday. The rain caused significant damage to property in the region.
Houses damaged in Boh Valley after cloudburst
The damage in Boh Valley has been severe. According to officials, six houses were washed away in a downpour on Tuesday. With the latest overnight rain, the total number of damaged houses in the valley has climbed to 18. A total of 13 pucca houses and five kutcha houses have been damaged. Nine cowsheds have also been destroyed.
Cloudburst triggers flash floods and debris flows
A cloudburst triggered flash floods and massive debris flows at Sapedi and Garun villages of the valley on Tuesday. Lam village also faces a threat. Several routes leading to the villages have been affected by the rain and debris.
Flash flood warning for nearby districts
The meteorological department has warned of low to moderate flash flood risk in parts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Kullu districts over the next 24 hours. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay alert.
