What happened in Taratala
On June 24, the roof of an under-construction warehouse collapsed in Kolkata's Taratala area. According to CGTN, Kolkata Police confirmed that 14 people died and 19 were injured in the accident. Rescue operations were carried out by the NDRF, SDRF, and the Army.
Construction halt across Kolkata
In response to the collapse, the state government ordered a suspension of all construction work in the city. The government has defended this move, calling it a necessary safety measure.
