Panchkula May 17: The long-awaited carpeting work of roads in Sector 14 has commenced under the supervision of Municipal Corporation Panchkula, bringing much-needed relief to residents and commuters of the area. The development assumes significance as residents had been consistently raising concerns regarding damaged stretches, potholes, and patchwork conditions on internal roads as well as in the market area.
Municipal Commissioner Sh Vinay Kumar said that ongoing carpeting work is expected to considerably improve road conditions, ensure smoother and safer driving experience, and enhance the overall urban infrastructure of the sector. Improved roads are also likely to contribute towards reduction in public grievances related to road conditions on the Mhari Sadak portal.
Sh Vinay Kumar said that since assuming charge of Commissioner Municipal Corporation, he has been regularly reviewing the condition of roads across the city and has been emphasizing upon expeditious improvement works through the engineering wing of the Corporation. However, the initiation of carpeting work had faced unavoidable delays due to external circumstances over the past few months.
He said that the outbreak of the Iran conflict had resulted in sharp fluctuations in bitumen prices and disruptions in supply availability, which impacted road development works in several regions. Subsequently, the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct further delayed the commencement of the project.
With conditions now becoming conducive, the Corporation has initiated the pending work on priority. Residents of Sector 14 have welcomed the move and expressed hope that the upgraded roads will significantly improve daily commuting and civic convenience in the area, he added.
Sh Vinay Kumar has reiterated Corporation’s commitment towards continuous improvement of civic infrastructure and timely redressal of public concerns across Panchkula.
