The Punjab government has taken a key step toward developing a new industrial hub in Mohali. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has officially declared 171 acres of land in Dhurali and Saneta villages as a resettlement area. This land will be used to relocate families affected by the acquisition of land for an Industrial Park in Sector 103, Mohali.
Rehabilitation and resettlement scheme details
According to The Tribune, the rehabilitation and resettlement scheme was approved on May 8, 2026. The scheme offers affected families a choice between an annuity or a one-time lump sum payment of Rs 5 lakhs. In addition, families whose livelihood is affected will receive a resettlement allowance of Rs 50,000.
Financial relief for affected families
Officials have confirmed that the acquiring body will cover the stamp duty and registration charges for any land or houses allotted to affected families. This is meant to reduce the financial burden on those being relocated. The compensation for loss of livelihood of farm labourers will be handled under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
