In Panchkula, 53 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 10 supervisors have been issued show-cause notices for negligence during the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls. Kalka SDM and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Sanyam Garg gave the order on Saturday.

Garg also appealed to voters to fill the prescribed forms without waiting for the last date. He advised voters to take help from the concerned supervisors and BLOs. Voters were also told to keep at least one passport-size photograph ready while completing the process. He further advised voters to cooperate with Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

In our view, this action by the Kalka SDM sends a clear message that negligence in electoral roll revision will not be tolerated. The SIR process is critical for ensuring that voter lists are accurate and error-free. By holding 63 officials accountable, the administration is showing that it takes this responsibility seriously. Voters, too, have a role to play by completing their forms on time and cooperating with officials. This combined effort can help build a more reliable electoral system.
