Several young men and women from Punjab and Haryana who are currently stranded in the United Kingdom have met with Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj to ask for help returning to India. The meeting took place in Southall during a special interaction organised by the United Sikhs organisation.
How immigration agents cheated the youth
According to The Tribune, the youths explained that immigration agents in India had defrauded them of lakhs of rupees. These agents sent them to the UK through improper and illegal means. As a result, not only had their parents' hard-earned money been wasted, but their futures had also been put at risk.
Living conditions in the UK
The young people told the Jathedar that because they lack valid documents and visas, UK authorities are no longer allowing them to stay legally in the country. This means they cannot find jobs, which makes it extremely difficult for them to survive in the UK.
Bibi Narpinder Kaur informed Jathedar Gargaj about the difficult situation the group is facing. The meeting was an opportunity for the stranded youth to directly share their problems with a senior religious leader and seek his intervention.
