The Ramnagar-Dehradun Express was launched to make travel easier for residents of the Kumaon region heading to Dehradun. According to News on Air, the event marked a new era of enhanced rail connectivity between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at the virtual flag-off, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the train as a milestone for the state. He said the service would act as a "new bridge" between Kumaon and Garhwal, making travel to Dehradun easier for residents of the Kumaon region.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually flagged off the new Ramnagar-Dehradun Express from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, as reported by ANI. The ceremony was conducted virtually, with both officials participating from the capital.
The train service is expected to operate on a bi-weekly basis, providing a regular link between the two regions. The Economic Times reported that the service strengthens the Kumaon-Garhwal rail link, as seen in their coverage.
