A Mohali court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of a goat farmer, a case that was cracked with the help of the victim's pet dog. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict.
How the Pet Dog Helped Police Solve the Murder
According to the case details, the victim Sucha Singh had gone missing on June 12, 2021, while grazing his goats. His pet dog played a crucial role in the investigation. The dog led police to the spot where Sucha Singh's mutilated and headless body was buried. This discovery became the key breakthrough in the case, helping police identify the accused and build the murder case.
Court Verdict and Sentencing
The court convicted Jagir Singh alias Ghola, a resident of Parol, on July 17. The sentence was pronounced on Wednesday. The court also ordered that compensation be given to the deceased's wife Sunita Devi through the District Legal Services Authority. Two other co-accused named in the FIR, Satnam Singh alias Sunny and Deshraj alias Desa, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

The case stemmed from a financial dispute. Sucha Singh had sold goats to Jagir Singh Ghola and was owed Rs 40,000. When Sucha Singh went to collect the money, he was killed. The accused slit his throat and buried his body, but the victim's pet dog led investigators to the crime scene.

Without the dog's help, the body might never have been found, and the accused might have escaped justice.
